Soft Architecture

Google

Google was looking for a way to quickly and effectively create micro-offices within their larger open floorplans. These had to be easy to set up and take down (the criteria given was “in a weekend”), require no permits, and create new welcoming and ergonomic spaces. Working with Muse & Co., I designed and engineered two systems of modular, extendable, and easy-to-move partition walls based on the form language of simple plywood sheets. One of these designs, an X-shaped section of wall made of two cut sheets of plywood, was eventually built and featured in a New York Times article about Google’s “future of work” strategies.
